Shit My Students Write

Dear Wil Wheaton tweeted this link today, and I simply must share it with you: http://shitmystudentswrite.tumblr.com/

Wow. As Wil said, "I have never laughed so hard while weeping so profusely for the future." I've only been through ten of the nineteen pages on the site so far, but here are some of my favorites. I've added my own titles here in italics. Enjoy!

The nerve of some armies! Geez!
The rebel and onion armies showed grose negligence by having many of their battles right inside national parks, like Gettysburg.

Oh, honey...
Was it the Revolutionary War or the Civil War that the Japanese dropped the atomic bomb on Pearl Harbor?

Well, even criminals deserve a place to sleep, I suppose.
I felt so guilty because I realized I was aiding in the bedding of a criminal.

Yes, because genocide is hilarious!
My story is hysterical fiction because it took place during World War II and could have actually happened.

Huh. Who knew?
Sex is a factor in teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

Wait. What?
Yet if the video didn’t exist in the first place, the poem by itself would had not been listened/read by as many people that have as of now in the first place since at this time video watching is more common than poetry reading.

Speak for yourself, there, mate. I, for one, don't do that whole new-fangled liquid thing!
Modern humans don’t solely rely on plants and meats as our prime source of nutrients but also vegetables, fruits, and even some liquids.

So, are they literally symbolic?
Fire and Ice are symbols, which can be looked at literally and also symbolically.

I think this speaks for itself, no?
I’m sorry but can you clarify what you mean by written?

So, if I'm gay, I don't have to pay bills? Right?
HIV/AIDS started with the homosexual population and then moved to families and income earners.

*blinkblinkblink* Yeah, I got nothing.
Material culture: peoples clothes styles. Nonmaterial culture: other stuff that isnt clothes.

Actually, that whole thing makes sense to me except the Canada part...oh, Caanan, right? Been too long on my Old Testament reading. Thankfully. *shudder*

See, I don't mind the funny typos and the mis-hearing of words (like one kid said Michael Angelo painted the sixteenth chapel). That's just humorous, but harmless. The ones who clearly just don't get the concept are the scary ones.
