Okay, so I ran across this on Twitter just before the Can-Am. I loved the idea so very much that I wanted to jump on the bandwagon right away, but alas, I did not take the time just then. But I didn't forget! Behold! My contribution to One Million Giraffes!

Yes, that's a giraffe. It would have more red but I simply didn't want to take apart my space station. (As my space station is on Mars, it needs to be red for concealment, so changing blocks out simply wouldn't do, you know.) As for why she's wearing blue shoes, you'll have to talk to her endorsements agent. I heard something about a new contract.

As for why Sarge, the yellow guy with the red helmet, is riding this giraffe while waving a Jolly Roger attached to a battle axe and hanging out with a monkey? Dude. I've got nothin. You'll have to ask him. Be careful, though. He's a crusty old bastard. He hasn't been the same since he got run over with the lawn mower about twenty-five years ago.

And yes, that's too true for poor Sarge. He was gravely injured and then spent months as a POW in the deep jungle of the front yard. I can see why he has issues. Seriously, though, I built this "giraffe" from what blocks I could find, and I didn't plan anything. I simply opened the Care Bears suitcase that houses my LEGOs, moved aside the plastic baggies of spaceship parts and wheels and tools and people (the specialty pieces have all been sorted since I was about ten, you know), then rummaged around in the basic bricks underneath until I came up with this. That was a lot of fun. I hadn't done that in a while. I can whip up a space station in no time flat and have about three different designs that work well, but this? Random building of something nuts? It's been far, far too long since I've done that. Thanks, One Million Giraffes!

Oh, and if you're wondering, LEGOs float. I'd forgotten that little tidbit of useful info... just sayin. And if you're wondering if that's a LEGO Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson that my hubby and I created to play with in Star Wars LEGO in my icon, wonder no more. Because yes. Yes, it is.

Oh, what a fun idea! I have to take part as well! I love giraffes and have drawn one she can have, and maybe I'll do more. I have to think about it.
I just clicked through some of the pictures - there are some wonderful ideas there! I also found your contribution on the site.

Yours is very funny also, and so far I have not seen another LEGO one.
I agree, let's build something nuts just for the heck of it.

Totally! I may have to do another one! I wanted to build one out of snow, but we haven't had enough snow to do that in forever!

Are you hoping for some? Spring's here now, ya know.

I did find yours, by the way, I just had to search under the right name. :)

Mixed feelings. On one hand I'd love to get some more snowboarding in and I HATE HATE HATE spring with a burning passon. On the other, I hate spring because of the mud and the stench, and that only gets worse if we get snow that then melts, etc.

So...whatever. What I want is immaterial to what the weather does, anyway.

But what I meant was that I live in a quite northern clime and we haven't had snow since mid-January. It's been insanely warm. We haven't had snow in FOREVER.

They almost had to call of the dog races six hours north of here this year because of lack of snow, which would have killed me. But they trucked in snow and rerouted around the water and made it happen. Thank the maker.

But bringing in snow for Fort Kent?

Yeah. It's been INSANELY warm and dry this winter.

(Or rather - winter? What winter? Though I did get a seriously great last few runs in on my board last weekend. The snow was wet but fast, and I'll take that!)
